Saw this vid some weeks ago – still deserves a post. This small autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) from GRASP Lab, University of Pennsylvania has some amazing capabilities. Flips, flight through windows, and quadrotor perching are shown. Awesome.

A new canopy design for the Walkera 4G6 / 4#6. With inspiration from the Henseleit MP and Three Dee RIGID canopy, I made this canopy longer and tightly closed around the swashplate.

Its easy to put on and uses the original rubber grommets and canopy mount.

And the best part: at 3.5gm it’s even lighter than the original canopy. Here are two pics one of the first prototypes. Still working on the colors and decal sets.

If you’re into scale-ish looking submicro helis this is for you: Nanoheli (nanoheli.net) is developing a flexible shaftdrive solution for the tailrotor of the Walkera 4G6 / 4#6. The flexible shaftdrive is designed for the scale-ish bodies that nanoheli is offering. Also just announced is the Sikorsky S-61 Sea King body from Nanoheli.
First pics of the flexdrive shaft look promising, but we don’t know yet how the servo linkage is going to work. Lets see what Nanoheli will come up with.

Now its official. The Walkera 4G6 2609 RX can be separated. One of the boards is the gyro, the other one is RX only (that is the board with all the servo connectors). After seperating the RX board is only 2.25gm (see pic below). As is the thing has 5 channels but it might be possible to use the gyro sens. channel as well, making it fully 6 ch.

The RX will be used in my BLiX-Twin.

Walkera 4#3B and the 2801Pro - Micro Heli Dreamteam

With the 2801Pro (2801 and 2801e should be similar) it is possible to setup the throttle curve, dual rate and expo for the 2406/A/B RX range. This is done by switching stickmode (COMPTB) to 2801, doing the setup, and then switching back to 2401 stickmode. The settings made will stay.

After going back into 2401 stickmode the bind should automaticly come back (if you left the rx connected to the battery). if not, just do a re-bind.

Ok, it’s not new (from Jan. 2009) but what Gabriel from Brazil does is just amazing. Incredible. Not legal in Germany probably. Filmed on location in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – most amazing set – Gabriel isn’t shy to show fly-through-tunnels, fly-through-windows and other crazy stuff in this best of. Probably a 1~ GHz setup with lots of mW’s…

So to me its the best FPV vid ever – or show me something better!
